For more than five years, residents have decorated the tree with decorations every holiday season. However, that tradition ended after Christmas 2022 when the Virginia Department of Transportation cut down the tree at Centerport Parkway and Mountain View Road.
On Friday, January 5, VDOT crews cut down a small evergreen tree growing in the guardrail on Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway) in Stafford County. The teams looked at the tree during routine maintenance in the area, and indicated the need to remove it. The tree was cut down at the end of the day by a maintenance worker working there on Friday. The bed of the truck is ready for the debris collected earlier in the day, so the crew will return this Monday morning, January 9, to pick up the wood debris from the side of the road. The tree is located in the north lane of the state and behind the guard rail where it is protected when the group stops. Trees and other objects found in this deflection area can interfere with the guard's ability to act as they try and save lives, and are always removed as a precaution. Because this tree is embraced by the community and decorated during the holiday season for the end of the year holidays, we regret that VDOT did not announce the tree's removal in elected officials and citizens. Although the removal is required for safety, it must be planned in advance, based on its location during the last celebration, and debris must be removed from the side of the road once it is cut. .

Yesterday, Wednesday, January 11, at 2:09 p.m., officers responded to the Truist Bank located at 16541 River Ridge Boulevard, off Route 1 in Woodbridge, in reference to a robbery.
A masked man entered the bank and approached a teller, where he handed over a demand note, revealing that he was armed with a gun. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank.
Officers, a police K-9 and the Fairfax County police helicopter searched the area without finding the suspect. There is no pain. No guns were displayed during the meeting.
He was seen wearing a black ski hat, a yellow crop top, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black t-shirt, and black/white Jordan shoes.

At 2:26 a.m. today, Thursday, January 12, 2022, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said the baby's mother went into labor at a North Stafford home. The child's father was still at home when he realized he didn't have enough time to get the mother to the hospital and call 911.
"The caller explained that his wife was working, and he was preparing to take her to the hospital. The child had other thoughts," said a press release from the sheriff's office.
Caller Christina Ratola picked up the phone and gave it to the father since the baby was born. Within five minutes, a couple welcomed a new baby into the world, with Ratola on the phone.

City Treasurer A. LaMar Hoy said Wednesday, Jan. 11, the city is considering several options when developing a site for a new movie theater in downtown Park Central.
Alternatively, the city's Board of Governors could give the city's economic development authority a loan to developer Norton Scott, who previously built most of the Park Central community, including a new city hall and library opened last summer.
Details are being worked out about the amount of the loan to be repaid. Other options on the table include using the sales funds to build the building to house the movie theater or partnering with a developer to agree to build the building itself. .
